Wie gef\u00e4hrlich ist das Leben? Der Mathematiker Christian Hesse berechnet das Sterberisiko von Menschen mit erstaunlicher Pr\u00e4zision.

Ab 80 Jahren betr\u00e4gt die Infektionssterblichkeit 170 000 Mikromort. Das macht eine Corona-Infektion f\u00fcr diese Altersgruppe so gef\u00e4hrlich wie einen Herzinfarkt”, sagt Hesse. F\u00fcr Menschen zwischen 35 und 44 Jahren hingegen sei eine Corona-Infektion tats\u00e4chlich \u00e4hnlich riskant wie eine Grippe, hier liegt die Infektionssterblichkeit bei 0,05 Prozent. “Zahlen helfen uns, Dinge verst\u00e4ndlich zu machen und differenziert zu bewerten. Das ist in einer Pandemie von unsch\u00e4tzbarem Wert und hilft, das eigene Verhalten anzupassen.” Das hat auch er getan: mit 60 Jahren z\u00e4hlt Hesse zur Risikogruppe. Statt in seinem B\u00fcro in der Universit\u00e4t arbeitet er deshalb jetzt meist von zu Hause, meidet \u00f6ffentliche Verkehrsmittel und gro\u00dfe Menschenmengen. “Das Gef\u00e4hrlichste, was ich in meinem Leben gerade mache, ist meinen Sohn zu umarmen. Der geht ganz normal zur Schule und hat dort viele Kontakte”, sagt er.
